On working in WCW:
"Kevin Nash likes me, so he pretty much calls the shots. He gives like, me and Bammer creative control of what we do, you know what I mean? He tells us who wins or loses, but there's not a lot of guys that can tell you how to play our game, guys that have been in our kind of matches. I think he does that with a lot of his guys, let's you do your own thing. I think Kevin's smart like that."
On making the transition from ECW to WCW:
"Everything's the same, except working for a multimillion dollar company. The boys are the boys, and the fans are the fans. On the aspect of when you walk through the curtain, whether there's 20,000 people or 2,000 people there, I don't get any more energy out of there being ten times more people there. My workrate's still the same, my heart rate still feels the same, the adrenaline flows the same, except its a little bit different when you're not so drunk. (laughs) In WCW, you're not going to be drinking before the matches up there. But besides that, with them letting me do "Hak's rules" matches, and Kevin giving me free reign to do what I want during the matches, as long as no fans are getting hurt. You notice, when we have most of our matches, things do stay right in the ring. You can't be swinging those trash cans and
things, because as soon as a fan gets hurt, if a couple of fans get hurt during our matches, they're going to pull the plug on us, and then where the hell am I going to be then. So I'm out there protecting the fans, as much as my own interest in the wrestling business."
On Chastity:
"Me and her talked for about an hour today on the phone, and I just can't believe, she's telling me Jay Leno talked about it, Letterman, or some other guy. People have done articles in like the New York Post or something. I could see if the girl was Sable, I mean, geez, I can't believe they have so little news that they jumped on this so hard. Considering her level in the business, you'd think she was a superstar, the way they're treating this piece of news. It's unbelievable...........(On Saturday Night Live) She was mentioned in the same sentence as Monica Lewinsky, and that just cracks her up. She's past the point of being upset or pissed off. But her parents found out about it, from one of her Dad's friends, stuff like that. You know, there's two sides to every story, and everybody's got skeletons in their closet, if you'd seen half the skeletons in my closet, you'd be like, that porno flick or whatever the hell she did, would mean nothing. We all have skeletons. Who the hell are any of us to say what she did was right or wrong?"
On his most memorable moment in ECW:
"It's more like a couple, like Funk out of a box, the blind angle, a lot of stuff that I did with Nancy [Woman], stuff with Sabu. It's not just one moment, there's a lot of moments that define the Sandman in ECW. I can't pick just one, at a minimum there's two or three."
On his relationship with Paul Heyman:
"We have none. I don't call him to say "how are you doing" or anything........I'm on the road right now, I'm on the road 20 days a week, I'm glad I get enough time to watch my kids play in a ballgame. I don't have time for my best friend. I haven't talked to Tod Gordon in the last week. He finally called me and said "Where the hell have you been?" I said, "Tod, it's unbelievable, I just don't have the time"...........It's pretty hectic. I don't have enough time to call my best friend, let alone a former employer."
On the name "Hak":
"My brother named me Hak when I was five years old, when he was 7 and a half, just turning eight. I've had it for a long time. I'm glad I'm using the name Hak now, because my brother that gave me that name died last year. I feel like I did something for him by doing that and we can probably put the Sandman to rest. "
On Shane Douglas:
"I have no clue, but I have heard some rumors. I talked to Denise, and her rumor was that he signed for $400. I talked to Tod, and he said he hasn't heard anything definitive yet. He tried to talk to Shane, and the phone number he has for him isn't working right now, so he's probably keeping himself in a cocoon right now, until he can figure out the best plan of action for him, and to tell you the truth, it's probably not a bad idea."
On his old entrance (with beer, cigarettes and cane):
"Well, they told me "no you can't" so I said okay. And that ain't going to change. I wish I could do it, because I think I could then relate to the audience much more, but there's no chance of that happening. So I bring out a trashcan full of stuff now, and have tables under the ring. There's no difference. A gimmick's a gimmick, no matter what it is.
